The family of a boy who was born with a hole in his heart is appealing for help from well-wishers to raise Sh1 million to facilitate his surgery.
Joseph Mande also lacks the right ventricle, a situation that could be fatal if he is not operated on. According to a medical report from Pandya Hospital, the two-and-a-half-year-old Mande’s right ventricle is conjoined to his left one.
Mande is expected to travel to India for specialised operation after being referred by doctors at Kenyatta National Hospital.
Mande’s aunt, Dorah Wakio, says the boy was born with the heart complication though it took almost two years to diagnose the condition. When The Standard visited him at Portreitz Hospital where he had been admitted, Mande was also suffering from pneumonia.
