The 14th of February is fast approaching. Up to yesterday, I was still unsure of what to do come D- day. I was adding and deleting some ideas I came up with over the past couple of weeks. Now, I am an early planner and a sucker for detail. Attention to detail certainly comes in handu whilst avoiding errors.
My first thought was a road trip, to the open and vast savannah of the Mara. The Mara is forever memorable to me. We travelled there sometime back for my parents' 30th anniversary. The memories are still fresh — Scratch that.
My next thought was a quiet, chilled place. I knew she'd love it — my friend. Denis had just told me of Enashipai Resort, located several kilometres from Naivasha town. He was from this wedding, and he kept rumbling about the place.
For a moment, I thought I had the perfect Valentine plan. Lynn, my girlfriend, we met last March. I love her, the sorta chick who loves her space and has a touch of humility I never knew existed. Recently, our conversations had been about settling down. We agreed it was about time to close in and have a family.
I was ecstatic. You better not screw this one up. The world, with its prying eyes, had to witness me going down on one knee. Though Lynn and I are quite private individuals, I wanted to profess my love for her publicly. The 14th of February will be history in my books.
My third and final thought came at around midday today. I'd been searching for events and shows that will be happening around our area. I wanted an audience, go up to the stage, take a microphone, and call her out on to the stage.
An advert of comedian Njugush caught my eyes. A live event on the 14th from 7 pm till late dubbed Through Thick and Thin. I knew then I had figured it out. We had been through a lot already, and God-willing I wanted to spend the rest of my time with Lynn.
As I count hours to my showdown, what are your valentine's plans?
