Woman dies after elephant tramples on her in Baringo

A 36-year-old woman died in Baringo County after she was trampled to death by an elephant at the Ol Arabel forest on Thursday, December 26.

Through a statement, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) identified the victim as Ms Stella Chebii.

"We are sad to report the tragic loss of a 36- year old woman who was trampled to death by an elephant in Ol Arabei forest on Thursday, December 26, 2019," read part of the statement.

The elephant attacked Chebii after she had gone to look for her livestock in the forest.

KWS also warned the public to take caution when approaching the forests.

"We are reaching out to the family of the deceased to condole with them. Members of the public are cautioned to be vigilant, particularly when they approach forest areas," said the KWS.

The 36-year-old woman's body was taken to the Nyahururu Hospital Mortuary by KWS officers with the help of the police.
