Covid-19 positivity rate at 9.9 per cent as 573 infections reported

Kenya’s Covid-19 positivity rate is now at 9.9 per cent, after 573 people tested positive for the disease today.
The Health Ministry says this is from a 5,798 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.
The total confirmed cases in the country are now 168,108 and cumulative tests conducted so far are 1,777,034.
Some fifty-eight patients have recovered from the coronavirus.

“Thirty-nine are from various health facilities countrywide while 19 are from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program.
There are now 114,452 total recoveries.
Six patients have died of the disease, one death occurring in the last 24 hours while five are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits, the ministry added.
This raises Kenya’s Covid-19 death toll to 3,049.
Another 1,075 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,674 patients are under the Home Based Care program.
119 patients are in the ICU, twenty-one of whom are on ventilatory support and seventy-one on supplemental oxygen. The Ministry says twenty-seven patients are under observation.
90 patients are on supplemental oxygen, 83 in general wards and seven in High Dependency Units (HDU).
As of May 22, Kenya has vaccinated some 952, 967 people.
