This shocking image shows a baby girl who was born with her heart on the outside of her body.
The youngster, whose chest appears to be open, has an extremely rare condition called ectopia cordis.
It affects just eight in every million births.
Sadly, 90% of those born with the condition are either stillborn or died with days, the Metro reports.
However, surgery offers a chance of survival.
This baby girl was born in Madhya Pradesh, India, on Wednesday.
The tot's dad Basant Padmakar, said: "The God has blessed us with a baby but I don’t know whether to call it a blessing or a curse that has fallen upon us.
"I am a poor man. We can barely afford two square meals a day.
"But I will do everything to save my child. We are feeling so helpless."
The baby was referred to a specialist hospital for treatment by a medical team under paediatric urologist Dr Vikesh Agarwal.
She has now been operated on and doctors are hopeful that she will recover well
