Thika still leads in HIV and Aids prevalence in Central Province, a health official has said.
A survey conducted in February indicated that the region held the bulk of HIV infections in the province, with a prevalence rate of 3.7 per cent.
Of the 1,779 people who sought VCT services in the month, 1,639 were tested and 90 of them were HIV positive.
Speaking on behalf of the District Medical Officer of Health, at an HIV and Aids open day at Mt Kenya University, Mr Oscar Ndombi said infection among women remained higher with 58 of them getting infected in February, compared to 32 men.
However, he said, fewer men than women sought VCT services.
