More women with Covid-19, as 110-year-old tests positive

More women than men tested positive for the coronavirus in Kenya in the last 24 hours.

464 females compared to 420 males tested positive, out of which was a 110-year-old person. These 884 people that tested positive from a sample size of 5,377 give a positivity rate of 16.4 per cent. 

Kenya's cumulative tests conducted so far since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in March last year to 1,468,835 and 130,214 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Some 1,221 patients are admitted in various hospitals in the country,121 of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of whom, 32 are on ventilatory support, 82 are on supplemental oxygen and seven on observation.

Another 88 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 76 of them in the general wards and 12 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

4,060 more are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

Eighty-nine patients have recovered, 57 from Home-Based Isolation and Care and 32 from various health facilities. The total recoveries stand at 91,754.

Kenya has recorded 13 deaths over the last 24 hours, all of which are late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates. The total deaths are now 2,117.

The five counties declared disease infected continue to lead in infection rates. Nairobi had 509. Nakuru registered 46, Kiambu (99), Machakos (48), and Kajiado (38).  Uasin Gishu county, not in the zoned area, recorded 59 cases.
