Nairobi leads counties in Covid-19 vaccination

Nairobi has the highest number of persons vaccinated for Covid-19.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of Health said Nairobi leads with 223, 992 vaccinations followed by Nakuru (42,145), Uasin Gishu (35,543), Kiambu (35,244), and Nyeri (25,345).

Vaccination numbers across five other counties are as follows: Kakamega (18,001), Kajiado (17,791), Murang’a (17, 534), Kisumu (17, 424), and Meru (17, 392).

The ministry also announced that Kenya has recorded 241 new coronavirus cases, with a positivity rate of 9.6 per cent. The total confirmed positive Covid-19 cases now stand at 151,894.

Nairobi recorded (153) cases, Meru (18), Uasin Gishu (14), Machakos (10), and Mombasa (8). Kiambu and Nakuru had nine cases each.

Of the confirmed cases 228 are Kenyans while 13 are foreigners. In terms of gender, 106 are female and 135 male. The youngest is a seven-month-old baby while the oldest is aged 90.

At the same time, 636 patients are reported to have recovered from the disease, 487 from the Homebased care program, and 149 from various health facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 102,278.

A total of 1,651 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide; of whom 6,161 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 250 patients are in ICU, out of which 57 are on ventilatory support.

201 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 190 are in general wards and 11 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

According to CS Mutahi Kagwe, 20 fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours, 11 on diverse dates within the last one month, while eight are late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates.

The total fatalities since March 2020 when the first case was confirmed in Kenya now stand at 2,501.
