We know how tempting online shopping is - especially at the moment - but why waste the money when you can easily repurpose what you already have?

If you've found you have a little bit of spare time on your hands, this DIY fabric dye hack could be the perfect solution to your dull clothing problems - and you only need one item.

A woman has explained just how easy it is to transform your clothes with an avocado - and it's blowing people away.

Now, we know how this sounds - but just trust us, instead of giving your clothes a Shrek coloured tinge, it will dye them a beautiful blush pink.

Now the only part of the avocado you need to use to dye your clothes is the pit, so save this for later.

Just for reference the woman in the TikTok video is using three pits.

The number of pits you use may alter how dark the dye is.

First things first, rinse the stone under the tap to get rid of any remaining avocado flesh and place it into a saucepan of water, making sure to put a lid on too.

Then bring the pits to a boil until the water turns a dark ruby colour.

Turn off the heat and let it steep overnight.

Wearing gloves, place the item of clothing you want to dye into the saucepan, mixing them round to make sure every part of the item is fully saturated.

Leave them to sit for eight hours before rinsing with water and putting them into the washing machine for a quick cycle.

When you take them out they'll be a pretty blush colour - voila.

The post was viewed by 6.2 million people, liked by almost 762,000 and has received over 3000 comments.

One person said: "Love this!! Natural dyes are super cool!!"

Another added: "I was not expecting BLUSH omg avocados are really the gift that keeps giving."

A third advised: "To anyone who wants to try this, you need to use natural fabrics. Anything synthetic won't pick up natural dye"

Whilst another joked: "Or just put in the wash with a red sock."

And: "How did anyone ever discover this in the first place. I have a lot of questions" wondered a fifth.

Is it possible to die from love?
