Police shot dead a suspected robber after a daring robbery at Nyeri town's Mudavadi market.
Two men walked into an M-Pesa shop and threatened the attendant with a gun before robbing her of an unknown amount of cash.
The attendant, Nancy Muthoni, raised the alarm after the robbers left the shop and attracted members of the public including police officers on patrol.
The incident, which took place in the busy and crowded market, caused panic as the officers pursued the two suspects.
Nyeri Central OCPD Muinde Kioko said the suspects started shooting at the police. One suspect was shot in the ensuing gunfight.
