MPs allied to The National Alliance (TNA) party have criticised former Assistant Minister Margaret Wanjiru for allegedly trying to take over the branch leadership through unorthodox means.
The MPs led by Maina Kamanda (Starehe) asked Bishop Wanjiru to respect the existing party officials and stop imposing herself as the branch chairperson.
Speaking at the branch headquarters yesterday, Mr Kamanda said Nairobi TNA MPs and members will not allow newcomers to wreck the party from within by ascending to leadership.
“In as much as our party is open to anybody, there are procedures to be followed before one becomes a party official. TNA is like our home, which we have invested in and we will not accept a person who was against the party up to last year to purport now to be an official,” said Kamanda.
Bishop Wanjiru dumped Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for TNA last year after failing to secure the party’s nomination in the previous elections, and has already declared she will gun for Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat on a TNA ticket.
“I will not agree to let Wanjiru to unprocedurally declare herself the TNA Nairobi party boss, when I know she campaigned against President Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.
