A female politician from Nyanza has been forced to enrol for dancing classes to boost her campaigns.
The professional-turned politician was humiliated at a local rally by Opposition supporters who had thronged the rally after she did a very poor jig when called to the stage, with the fans calling for one of the female politician, who is known for her sugua dance, to show her how it is done.
Dancing has become part and parcel of Kenyan politics, with senior female politicians showing off their skills.
A local told Power Play that in 2013, a little-known female candidate danced her way into Parliament.
She was not known, but her dancing prowess sold her. "When she visited our area she just nailed it and we embraced her and the rest is history," he said.
A female retired politician has told Power Play that she lost to her colleague because she was not 'naughty and jumpy'.
"For them to be embrace you, you have to appear to be naughty and vulgar or else they won't give you any attention," she said.
