Your hands can betray your age and so it is essential to care for them. You do not want to look beautiful and youthful while your hands look old and wrinkly.
Clean: It is very important to always have clean hands at all times. Dirty hands and nails make you look like a careless, dirty person. Use soap and water to get your hands clean. Completely rub the soap on your wrists, in between your fingers, and the area around your nails. Wash the soap off, and then use a toothbrush to scrub the nails and the dirt under it.
Moisturize: Use any moisturizer or petroleum jelly after partially drying your hands. It is better to moisturize damp hands as opposed to dry hands, this little trick helps seal in the moisture. Make sure you properly moisturize your hands every time you wash them. This ensures that you never have dry rough hands that may age prematurely. Always remember to carry your favorite moisturizer or petroleum jelly with you. This helps you moisturize every time you wash hands. You avoid getting dry looking hands.
Trimming: File or cut your nails with a nail file or nail cutter. When filing, ensure you use a good nail file. Rough files do more harm than good to your nails. They make your nails brittle and weak. File in one direction as opposed to filing across both directions of your nail.
Polish: You may choose to buff your nails using a buffer or opt to apply nail polish. When applying polish, always start with a base coat to protect your nail plate from getting discolored by the nail polish color. Choose any colour you like but it is advisable to choose light pastel colors as these colours do not shout much in case they chip. Finish off with a top coat for added sheen to your nail polish.
Protect: Avoid exposing your hands to harsh chemicals like bleach. They dry out your hands. Instead opt for gloves when you have to deal with chemicals
Nails are not tools: Avoid using your nails as tools. This includes using your nails to open things or scratch things off. These practices weaken nails.
