In what might turn out to be the biggest sports and arts talent search in the country, Kiambu County has launched a major youth championship pitting 720 teams from 60 wards against each other.
The showbiz move is also being used as a platform to discover and nature other creative arts among young people who will also be rewarded with huge cash prizes.
Dubbed the AllStars Talent Search, the affair will see individuals and teams take home upto Sh150,000.
Integrating music, dance and sports to create vibrant entertainment weekend, the new entertainment move aims at not only creating income for the young stars but also platforms where young people who had been wasting away in alcohol abuse and other negative vices can reform for a meaningful future.
Speaking to MondayBlues yesterday, Machel Waikenda, the Youth Affairs and Sports Minister in Kiambu, said the county was committed to ensuring that young talents are supported for wealth creation among the young people.
“These are the developments we promised the young people during the political campaigns and ours is just to show everyone that we meant to keep our word. I am ensuring that from sports, music and acting, all forms of talents are given a top priority among our youth,” said the former Blackstar Entertainment CEO.
“We have started off with the AllStars Championship Cup league that is now turning to be a big success. We are opening up football academies in which talented youth can be trained,” he added.
