Having beautiful glowing skin is at the top of the list when it comes to beauty goals. We spend a lot of money every year on serums, moisturizers, masks and so many products to keep issues like breakouts at bay.

While it’s true that these products help to combat various skin problems, we need to recognize that what we eat also contributes to the health and appearance of our skin.

Tempting as it may be and look to the eyes, a diet consisting of processed foods and high sugar content options are some of the worst foods for our skin.

Good news however is, there are many healthier food options that can do wonders for your skin.

To prove it to you, let us look at some of the best foods you can eat to significantly improve how your skin looks and feels:

  • Carrots

Carrots are famously known for providing benefits for eyesight. We also love to include them in vegetable stews and they can also be enjoyed as a healthy snack or in salad.

Besides providing nutritional benefits, it was discovered that they supply your skin with beta-carotene which is a wonderful antioxidant.

Additionally, carrots help to balance the natural oils in your skin which is a plus if you struggle with oily skin and at the same time it can help treat skin conditions like psoriasis.

  • Kidney beans

Kidney beans are very popular in Kenya. They are a key ingredient in traditional meals like githeri and many people also enjoy them with rice or chapati. They are loaded with a great supply of protein which is the perfect healthy option if you want to build some lean muscle.

When it comes to the beauty benefits of eating beans, they are one of the best sources of antioxidants, vitamin C and zinc which keep your skin healthy. They also come with healing benefits for acne prone skin.

Regularly adding beans to your diet will give you both health and skin care benefits.
