Beauty uses of coconut oil you should try

Who doesn’t love coconut oil? It has a high smoking point, which makes it suitable for baking and frying, not forgetting its long shelf life. While coconut oil may be intended for the kitchen other uses have emerged particularly in the beauty industry and are proving to be very effective.
Most ladies know and understand how important coconut oil is for long silky hair and the treatment of dandruff, but did you know that coconut oil can also be used on your skin? Here are some other beauty uses of coconut oil you may not know:
- Makeup remover
Rubbing a wet cloth on your face when removing makeup can increase sensitivity and even break your skin.
Rub some coconut oil onto your skin instead and slowly rub for a minute or two and wipe off slowly. Your makeup will come off faster and easily without causing any damage to your skin.
If your daily moisturiser is not producing any results even after months of use and your skin still looks and feels dry and flaky maybe, it’s time to switch to some coconut oil.
Coconut oil is more effective when it comes to bolstering your skins protective layer as it will trap moisture inside, leaving your skin more hydrated, supple and fresh.
- Reducing wrinkles
After a long day, always cleanse your face and pat dry before applying coconut oil. Take a few drops and gently massage evenly all over your face in slow circular motions like you would any other moisturiser.
Sleep on it and repeat the procedure for a few weeks. You will notice any wrinkles you had start to reduce since the coconut oil will fight free radicals that damage your skin and increase wrinkles.
- Soften lips
Do you regularly suffer from dry and chapped lips? Well this might be the simplest procedure to follow. Simply apply some coconut oil on your lips and dab gently with your fingers to allow the oil to set.
You can repeat this procedure throughout the day whenever you feel your lips are getting dry. Don’t forget to apply more coconut oil before going to bed and take lots of water too.
- Under eye cream
After using makeup products for a long time, you will notice your under eyes getting darker. To help reduce this, every evening wash off and clean off all beauty products before applying coconut oil.
Take a few drops of the coconut oil, gently massage into the areas under your eyes for 30 seconds and allow it to sit overnight so the oil can be absorbed into your skin.
- Treating fine lines
Coconut oil works the same way like your normal serum, only that it is much cheaper and readily available.
Before applying any other products on your face, apply small amounts of coconut oil on your skin and wait a few seconds for it to dry before you start layering your skincare products.
Tip: Skincare products work differently for everyone, always consult a trusted dermatologist before experimenting with new or recommended products on your skin.
