Meghan Markle and Prince Harry don't want to embarrass the Queen in their tell-all Oprah interview, it has been reported.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will appear in a potentially explosive interview titled Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special in March.

The pair will talk about their move to the US and their "future hopes and dreams for their expanding family" - and no subject is thought to be off limits.

The interview, which is said to have blindsided the Palace, has sparked concern among senior royals, but there are no plans to try and stop him or Meghan taking part, it is understood.

The couple are reportedly anxious that the interview does not embarrass the Queen, the Guardian reports, as they have great respect and love for her and "don't want to undermine that".

Sources have revealed questions have been raised about the reasons behind the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision, as it emerged they have set no limits on their discussions with the US billionaire chat show queen.

Palace insiders alluded to the catalogue of disastrous television interviews with senior royals in recent years - from Prince Andrew on Newsnight to Princess Diana on Panorama - all of which have ended with dire consequences.

One source said: "Questions are of course being asked why Harry would ever think this is a good idea.

"On the one hand he may think that Oprah Winfrey is a trusted friend, despite only meeting her a handful of times, but on the other the history with these sorts of interviews has often ended with disastrous consequences.

"The overriding feeling he will very much live to regret it."

However, the Queen reportedly has faith that her grandson will stick to royal protocol despite the far-reaching nature of the interview.

The Express reports that 'palace insiders' are confident that the couple will obey royal protocol and 'stand by a promise to uphold Her Majesty’s values.'

An insider was reported to have said of the upcoming interview: “It’s hardly likely to build bridges but there is always the chance the finished product is very tame.”

In a further blow to relations, Harry and Meghan could lose all their remaining royal patronages, it is understood.

Friends of the couple reportedly said the Sussexes were resigned to losing their royal titles, although they insisted that wasn't their motivation to agreeing to the Oprah interview.

The spotlight on the patronages could see the 12-month Megxit review, set for March 31, brought forward, the Telegraph reports, to "prevent further speculation and uncertainty".

The Oprah interview announcement came just 24 hours after Meghan and Harry confirmed that they are expecting a new baby.

Meghan, who bravely revealed that she suffered a miscarriage last year, is now pregnant again with a younger sibling for Archie.
