Dos and don’ts for naturally beautiful skin

Skin Care

There is nothing as good as having beautiful flawless skin. But with age and body changes our skin changes too.

It’s important to take care of our skin in order to keep it in the best shape possible regardless of the changes we are experiencing. It is also important to ensure that our skin products and skin care routines are not the reason for our skin acting up.

The reason I say this is because most of us don’t understand why our skin is suddenly breaking out and yet we are using the ‘best products’ available in the market.

Well, not everything expensive or popular is good for us. They work for some and not necessarily for all.

This however doesn’t mean giving up. You must take care of your skin to avoid black heads, discoloration, premature aging, dryness etc.

If you happen to have sensitive skin it’s advisable to visit a dermatologist who will be able to advice on the best products for your skin. Don’t just look for solutions all by yourself because you might worsen the situation.

Here are the dos and don’ts you should be aware of when it comes to having naturally beautiful skin.

Do:

Use sunscreen every day

You need to protect your skin from the harmful rays of sun which can cause cancer. Make sure you use sunscreen with an spf of 50 and above to ensure that your skin is well protected from the sun. If you can also avoid sun bathing for long hours and if it’s your swimming day or beach day, ensure to reapply your sunscreen every so often.

Hydrate and moisturize

Water is important to your skin’s health. Water ensures that your skin is well moisturized from the inside and helps to eliminate toxins that may affect your skin.

Ensure to drink the recommended 8 glasses a day for healthy skin. Also moisturize your skin after every wash because no one wants flaky dry skin. Use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type to achieve the best results.

Use the correct products for your skin type

It’s important to identify the best products for your skin type. Not everything in the market works for your skin. It’s important to identify your skin type before using a product.

Also investigate the ingredients in your product in order to ensure that they don’t contain harsh chemicals. It is also advisable to test the product on your inner part of the elbow before using it on the rest of your body.

Don’t:

Don’t sleep with make-up

I know sometimes we get back home when we are too exhausted or too hangover to remember to take off our makeup and we just want to sleep.

But it’s important to spare five minutes and clean your face properly before going to bed. For such days have your make remover wipes and cleanser close by to remove your makeup with much ease. Remember clean skin is beautiful skin.

Don’t ignore your skin

If you notice changes on your skin that cannot be explained or cannot determine the cause it’s important to visit your doctor if the changes are severe.

In case you noticed these changes after using a product discontinue use immediately and wash the product off your skin.

Remember not all products in the market are good for your skin. Don’t just use a product because a celebrity swears by it or it works for your friend. Your skin is different so stick to what works for you.

Don’t over exfoliate

We use our skin scrubs to get rid of dry skin and cleanse our pores but this should be done once a week or twice a week at most.

Yes, there is something like over exfoliating. If you over scrub your skin then your skin might end up getting damaged and also make your skin dry as it will dry out your skin and remove all the natural oils produced by your skin to keep it moisturized.
