Get rid of your joint pains with a mix of salt and olive oil

Whether it is after a long day at work, or from a body strain, joint pains can catch up with us anytime. This pain may get quite disturbing as it may limit your productivity and could also make your nights sleepless. If you don't want any dependency to the addictive opiates or painkillers, a healthy remedy is the way to go. Read on to enlighten yourself on how this mixture of commonly found kitchen ingredients can work magic for you.

Using salt

For this remedy, using sea salt instead of table salt is recommended. You can easily tell the difference based on the texture as the sea salt is grainier. The reason behind using sea salt is that it is natural hence maintains its essential nutrients unlike the table salt that has additives from processing. Consequently, sea salt maintains the major compounds like magnesium and phosphorus, all which contribute to balancing calcium levels in the body, and stopping inflammation thus helping in strengthening the bones and in easing the pain. Sea salt use also helps in relieving water retention as well.

Using olive oil

Olive oil is greatly recommended for cooking for its purity. If wondering what's so powerful about olive oil, it contains a compound - oleocanthal - that blocks inflammation and thus helps ease the pain.

Mixing the two, sea salt and olive oil, is therefore so effective especially after you follow the following procedure of preparing your solution at home.

What to use:

1 cup (200 ml) water

20 tablespoons (300 ml) of olive oil

10 tablespoons (150 ml) of sea salt

Mix the ingredients until the sea salt dissolves fully. Remember to shake to shake your oil before use to reintegrate the ingredients.

When ready to apply this concoction to ease your joint pain, spray a light coating over your affected joints and massage them gently for a few minutes. You may notice a rash after use which should not worry you. Simply dab a cold press a few minutes before your massage or use taucum powder after the massage. The rash will wear off.
