Members of parliament are up in arms over plans to tax their full income from the day the new constitution was passed to the end of their term. At the heart of their argument is an alleged promise made last year by president Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga that legislators would not pay additional taxes in this current term. However, according to Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth the promise holds no water as the constitution overrides any agreement. KTN’s James Karani spoke to Kenneth, who is one of only two MPs paying tax on their full incomes.
