Healthy living basically revolves around diet, exercise and good mental health.

In order to achieve health milestones, you need to make changes in your lifestyle in general.

When it comes to diets especially, unhealthy snacking and eating is replaced with food that is beneficial to the body. More emphasis is placed on what you eat because if you don’t eat right, the work outs won’t have the results you want.

Part of healthy eating is also ensuring that you have your meals at the right time. Health gurus ensure that they have their dinner hours before bed so that their bodies can digest everything well.

Early eating also comes with its own challenges. By the time an hour or two pass, you find yourself looking for a snack.

Having a snack before bed isn’t a problem though, just as long as it’s a healthy option.

Here is a list of healthy snacks you can opt for during those late nights.

i. Nuts

There’s a wide variety to choose from whether its cashew nuts, peanuts or walnuts. Nuts are packed with healthy vitamins, proteins and fibre that the body can definitely benefit from. You can decide to create a mixture of different nuts or even have an interesting twist like honey glazed nuts. The great thing is that they don’t need any preparation because they are easily available in stores. All you need to do is get a bowl, pour them and enjoy your late night snack.

ii. Bananas

Fruits are healthy options for late night snacking. There are many to pick from and once again, they don’t need any preparation. Bananas in particular are one of the best options because they promote muscle repair. This is great especially if you work out a lot.

iii. Peanut butter sandwich

This delicious combination of bread and peanut butter is one to die for. Studies have shown that peanut butter contains properties that help in digestion which is exactly what you need. It will boost your metabolism and help the food you previously ate digest faster. The best bread to use is whole meal which is also packed with nutrition so that you don’t have to worry about useless carbs.

iv. Healthy cereal

Cereal has always been linked to breakfast. The status quo is that you should only have it in the morning so being spotted eating cereal at night can be a little odd. Regardless, cereals are packed with good carbohydrates that are known to promote sleep and relaxation. Just ensure that you choose options like whole grain cereal, oatmeal and other healthy option that are not packed with sugar.

v. Boiled eggs

This is yet another breakfast meal that’s also great for late night snacking. Boiled eggs are easy to make, are packed with nutrients and are filling as well. Its amazing properties are great for good metabolism, quality sleep and even muscle strengthening. Who knew that something as simple as an egg could make such a huge impact when it comes to healthy eating.

vi. Yoghurt

Yoghurt is one of the most loved nighttime snacks to ever exist. It is especially great because it contains powerful proteins and is packed with calcium which has also been linked to better sleep. The best options are plain yoghurts or options that have little sugar because you want to avoid having too much sugar in the system that’ll make it harder for you to fall asleep.

vii. Sweet potatoes

If you didn’t know, sweet potatoes have so many relaxing properties for the body. They contain good carbohydrates and even calcium which all help you sleep better. You can bake them, mash them, roast them, grill them, the list is endless.
