Deep fried or baked, hot and crunchy or sweet and spicy -- however you like them, chicken wings are the ultimate game or movie food. Put them in a bowl on the coffee table, turn on the TV and see them disappear. Today, I share my simplest chicken wing recipe that you can whip up quickly at home.
What you will need:
500g chicken wings
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 garlic cloves minced
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons chilli sauce
3 tablespoons tomato sauce
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 stick of rosemary
Coriander for garnish
2 tablespoons oil
1 large green bell pepper
1 large red bell pepper
What to do:
Wash the wings and pat them dry. Put them in a bowl and add the vinegar. Mix well.
Add the dry spices: paprika, curry powder and turmeric. Mix well.
Using a mortar and pestle, mince the garlic cloves with salt and add the mixture to the wings. Mix well. Add some rosemary flakes and let the wings marinate for about an hour or so.
In a pan over medium heat, add the oil, cut the bell peppers into some strips and sauté them for about 2 minutes or until fragrant. Remove them from heat and set aside.
Using the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil and pan sear the wings until golden brown (about 2 minutes each side).
Once browned, add in the chilli sauce, tomato sauce, soy sauce and let it cook until almost reduced and sauce coats the wings.
Serve on a plate with the sautéed bell peppers on the side.
Garnish with some coriander and enjoy the saucy chick wings.
