Charity starts at home: How to assist students in need

Living

Meet Milda Vuguza, a student in class 8 who walks for an hour to get home for lunch only to get home and find nothing to eat. With her father deceased and her mother suffering from breast cancer, Milda and her four siblings depend on their sister who dropped out of primary school to work as a house girl so that they can have a dinner of roasted maize and black tea. Despite this, Milda still wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

The Student for International Development (SID), believes that despite where you came from you can make something out of yourself. Our organisation creates opportunities for excelling students to go through school by funding their primary school education and get them one step closer to fulfilling their dream. SID caters for school fees, provide lunch, uniform and basic healthcare for about 55 needy students at Simboyi Primary School, one of the best performing schools in Vihiga county. We support orphans who have been neglected, students with disabilities and others who are living in poverty.

For over four years, we have supported students like Milda and this year we would like to add more students to our program. We are collecting donations to give more children a shot at clawing their way out of poverty. Ksh100 will be enough to cover a student’s lunch for a week and students like Milda are able to concentrate in class without having to worry about constant hunger.  Ksh200 will provide students like Reagan Ombajo a basic healthcare cover so he doesn’t have to miss school and continue to excel and perform greater than his current 387 marks. About Ksh1500  will get students like Esther Kenda a uniform for a year, including a sweater and shoes, so that despite both her parents being deceased she will stay warm throughout the cold rains of Vihiga.

Touch the life of a brilliant child today with as little as 100 shillings.

You can Donate via LIPA NA M-PESA 891300and together let’s give these children an opportunity to rewrite their family’s history. We believe in equal opportunities, do you?
