Kalekye Mumo redefined the meaning of turning forty

Achieving Woman
 Kalekye Mumo

Lesson: You can do anything if you put your mind to it

While most women hide their age once they turn 40 or worse assume that turning 40 means that a woman loses her shine and everything fabulous about herself, Kaleyke Mumo redefined the meaning of turning forty for many Kenyan women. She changed the whole game and proved that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

In 2016 Kalekye Mumo not only turned forty with a bang by throwing a birthday party which was the "it" social event of 2016, but she achieved her lifelong dream of losing 40 kgs by the time she turned 40.

"I think the biggest lesson is that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. I used to believe that I could never lose weight, I tried everything but nothing seemed to work, so much so that I even talked myself out of it and imagined that doing it by the time I turned 40 was an impossibility," she explains.

"The key for me in 2016 - your mind is a powerful tool. You only need to put your mind to something and do not discourage yourself, believe and you can do anything. Making the decision to change my life was not easy for me, it was huge.

I had to understand the power that I had, you are the only person who has the power to change your life, but often we like to discourage ourselves yet all the power you need is in the mind. I have learnt so much this year, I know that 40 is not the end of the world as my life has just began.

Apart from changing her lifestyle, she also changed jobs in 2016, she left Kiss after 10 years of service and hosting one of the most popular morning shows, to build up her PR firm proving that it is never too late to pursue something new.

She also began a movement online on Youtube called "The Me I Want With Kalekye Mumo", and so far, has 3000 subscribers. Further she is the host of a weekly radio show called Live & Direct on www.wgRADIO.fm.
