Bring out your best features with these easy tips

1. Make eye shadow pop – Have you ever bought a vibrant colour that appears dull when applied to the eyelid? To make the colour pop, use a thick pencil to apply a white base over the entire eyelid, and then apply the colour of your choice.

2. Use blush to suit your face – Blush accentuates your best features when it is applied according to your face shape. It also helps to contour and define your cheek bones. For a square face, apply blush in the middle of your cheeks to soften your look. For an oval face, apply on the cheek bones. For a round face, apply from the sides to the cheek bones, which will help lengthen your face.

3. Make DIY tinted moisturiser - Mix your favourite facial moisturiser with a little bit of concealer or foundation. Use a small amount of foundation as too much can make you look darker.

4. Use a plastic spoon when applying mascara – Put the spoon under your bottom lashes and apply mascara. It helps you to achieve a thicker coat without getting mascara on the skin under your eyes.

5. Fix thick/clumpy mascara – When your mascara starts to dry out due to frequent use, add one or two drops of eye-drops into the tube. The eye-drops soften the mascara making it easy to apply. Ensure that you replace your mascara every three to six months.

6. Use masking tape as an eye stencil – This beauty aid can help you achieve balance when applying eye-liner and shadows. It is useful when going for a daring look such as the ‘cat’.

7. Highlight your eyes - The placement of highlights is very important when trying to create naturally beautiful eye make-up. Apply the lighter colours such as whites, creams and pearls to the inner corners, the middle of the eye, and just under your brow bone. Apply the lightest colours first, and then move on to the darker shades.

8. Make your eyes appear bigger - Using a white pencil to line your lower lid creates the illusion of a bigger eye.

9. Make your skin look even with two shades of foundation – apply the darker shade on the lighter areas and the lighter shade on the darker areas. Blend in with a damp sponge and set with pressed powder.
