A refrigerator is a very useful household equipment and should be given a lot of attention when cleaning your kitchen.

This appliance stores raw and cooked food, drinks, name it. It is, therefore, important that it is kept clean and hygienic to minimize the risk of food poisoning.

Cleaning the refrigerator is not as straightforward as cleaning other home appliances.

For instance, there are certain products that should never be used when cleaning the fridge.

Today we look at tips on what products to use and how to do it in the shortest time possible:

Products

Do not use kitchen cleaners and disinfectants like bleach to clean the inside of a fridge. The chemicals contained in them should not come into contact with food to avoid contamination.

Natural products are safe and highly recommended when cleaning your fridge.

These include baking soda, white vinegar and kitchen cleaners made from citrus oils. Baking soda removes stains and absorbs bad smell.

On the other hand, vinegar is great for removing any stainless steel elements, in case your fridge has doors made of stainless steel.

How to clean

Start by removing all the food in the fridge to avoid contamination. This also makes it easier and faster to clean all the corners and crevices.

Remove all the removable parts of the fridge and soak them in warm soapy water. Wash, rinse and wipe them dry before returning them into a clean fridge.

Use a sponge clothe and a mixture of warm water and dishwashing liquid to wipe the inside of the fridge.

Maintain your fridge by regularly cleaning up spills as soon as possible, washing packets of milk, fruits and tomatoes before stuffing them in and trashing out anything that is out of date to avoid contamination.
