Seanice Kacungira talks about her life, love and and relationship

Living

Seanice KacungiraIt has been a while, what are you up to?

I am now based in Uganda where I run a salon called Suqa, and a digital agency called Blue Flamingo, which I run with my partner. We do social media management and audio and television production. Our clients include everyone from NSSF to Smirnoff. I am also still on radio, Sanyo FM.

What do you miss most about Kenya?

I miss Kenyan work culture and the speed. I also miss the restaurants, especially the ones that serve sushi.

How did you get involved with the Tusker Twende Kazi show?

I got a call last year and they also sent me the synopsis, which I loved because it involved travelling. But at the time I was not able to commit because it clashed with my schedule. Luckily, it was moved to early this year and I was able to commit. The show is creative and its theme of togetherness made it very different from other reality shows and it drew me in.

What do you love most about being a woman?

I love the shoes, clothes, plus the fact that we are intuitive and are allowed to be emotional.

What is your most annoying habit?

I am impatient; I do not want results today, I usually want them like yesterday.

What do you think is your best quality?

Resilience; I do not know if it has anything to do with my genes but whenever the chips are down, then I am at my best and I thrive.

What is your biggest addiction?

I love horses. I spend so much of my time and money on them. I own two horses in Kenya and while in Uganda, I go riding at a stable in Munyonyo.

You always look fabulous, what is your secret?

There was a time I just did not care about how I looked I was too busy with work, and I could not be bothered. I have, however, come to realise that always ensuring you look fabulous is not narcissistic, but it shows that you not only love yourself, but also respects other people.

You left Kenya about three years ago to resettle back in Uganda and to marry you fiancé. It was to be the ‘it’ wedding of the year, what happened?

I was feeling trapped and suffocated, and I realised that I was not ready to get married. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I am, however, thankful that my ex fiancé Christian Gronlund, is very mature, and he understood that if we went along with it, and I was not ready, it would not work. We emerged from it stronger and better friends. He is my best friend and even the way we relate with other now is better. He is a lawyer and is even the one who looked at my contract for Tusker Twende Kazi and encouraged me to take the opportunity.

So are you guys still dating?

We are still trying to define it, but without expectations, he understands me and so do I.

You are wearing a ring on your marriage finger are you engaged again?

No I am not, I still wear my old engagement ring, don’t ask me why because I cannot explain.

What is you biggest pet peeve in the Ugandan dating scene?

For some strange reason, I attract show offs. About two weeks ago, I went on a date with a man who declared that he was married and that he wanted me to be his mistress. I was shocked but he continued on, claiming that I was the perfect candidate because I was not too young or too old, plus I had my own job and businesses. I was so shocked but I excused myself and left. The next day, he sent a brand new Range Rover as a gift to my place of work. Every fibre of my being wanted to keep it, but I am not that kind of girl and I sent it back. After all, if I want a Range Rover I can save up for a couple of years and buy one for myself.

How do you recuperate after a long week?

I love dancing, if I am not dancing the night away with friends, you will find me at home blasting the radio loud and choreographing some dance moves. I also love reading.

What one thing don’t people know about you?

I am a woman of my word. If I say I will have something ready by tomorrow, then if I have to sleep at two in the night to make it happen, I will do it. I always make sure I go the extra mile.

What is your biggest phobia?

It used to be failure, but now I realise that success teaches you nothing.
