On April 21st, actress Joyce Maina sent an appeal to Kenyans to help find her missing dad after efforts to trace him bore no fruit.
Last seen along the Embu-Mwea highway, he family suspected foul play when his phone was switched off, with the last person he spoke to being his wife whom he assured that he would be home that evening.
Unfortunately, it would be the last time the family heard from 54-year-old James Maina.
In a sad turn of events, a decomposed body found inside a car in a river in Embu was identified to be that of Maina.
“Dear friends, family and fans. My dad’s car and body was found at the bottom of a river in Embu yesterday. It heart breaking news but we’ve been praying for some kind of closure for month. When I blew out my birthday candle last week that’s actually what I wished for…” Joyce broke the news via her social media.
The pretty actress has asked the public to give them some time as they mourn and make the necessary funeral arrangements to lay their loved one to rest.
“I kindly ask that you give me and my family space as we make funeral arrangements. I will share details on the place and time for those interested in attending the meetings I can’t thank you all enough for your prayers and kind words throughout this difficult time God bless,” she wrote.
Speaking to The Star, a detective who sought anonymity revealed that the body was badly disfigured having stayed in the water for close to four months.
Found on his body according to police reports was cash estimated to be between Sh10,000- Sh20,000 and a mobile phone.
