A 13-year-old boy was on Wednesday arraigned before an Embu court for allegedly sodomising nine young boys. The boy who hails from Kiriari village in Manyatta Sub County is accused of sodomising boys aged about three years.
Principal Magistrate Maxwell Gicheru directed that the boy be held at the Murang’a children’s home awaiting an age assessment report and sourcing of a pro bono lawyer to represent him.
This was after a children’s officer requested that the boy be held in a secure place away from the angry community back at home.
According to a children’s officer Davelyne Mundi, the boy’s wayward ways were discovered on Monday last week when a parent to one of the victims noticed a change in behaviour in his son and on inquiry, the minor revealed what has been happening.
The boy also revealed the other victims. The parent reported the discovery to the children’s office, which alerted security agencies and the accused boy was arrested.
The victims were escorted to Embu Level Five Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The accused boy was arrested while in school and held at Runyenjes police station before being arraigned in court.
The case will be mentioned on October 23 when the judge will issue further directions.
