NAKURU: The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has released Sh191 million to all hospitals countrywide accredited to the medical scheme.
NHIF CEO Simon Kirgotty said the cash would have been more but some hospitals had dragged in signing the third-party agreement for health cover. “Some of the hospitals had some doubts in signing the agreement with us, but we have proven that we can deliver,” he said.
Kirgotty was quick to issue a warning to health facilities offering sub-standard drugs and services to NHIF patients, noting that they risked been struck off from its roll.
Kirgotty was addressing the Press at the Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha at the end of a consultative meeting between Cotu and NHIF over the recently introduced rates.
