The fact that Duale said Uhuru is planning to betray Raila is enough grounds for him to lose his seat — Ngunjiri Wambugu

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu on Tuesday stated that the fact that National Assembly leader Aden Duale suggested that President Uhuru Kenyatta intends to betray Raila Odinga is enough grounds for him to lose his seat.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Wambugu said that Duale’s statement cast aspersions over the integrity of President Kenyatta who is the Jubilee Party leader.

“The majority leader suggested that the president is lying and is planning to betray Raila at an opportune time.

“That by itself is reason enough to lose the seat as the majority leader,” said Wambugu.

Adding: “This is casting aspersions on the integrity of the President. Telling Kenyans that the President is scheming against someone he vowed to work with in uniting the country is reason enough for you to be removed as majority leader.”

While opining on the 2022 succession race in April, Duale reiterated that the Head of State will back DP William Ruto and Odinga will be left out in the cold.

“Mark my words, Jubilee will be one, Uhuru Kenyatta will back William Ruto. All these stories, my friend, for you to go to a merger, you must call a National Delegates Conference (NDC) after National Executive Council (NEC) and National Governing Council (NGC) which is yet to happen,” he said.

Speculation is rife that the President might back the former Prime Minister in the next election after their newly found ‘bromance’ but Duale maintained that there is a secret card that will be pulled out at the right time.

“You think you have fixed William Ruto, you will be shocked. ‘Baba’ (Raila) will be shocked. There is that secret card between Uhuru and Ruto,” added Duale.

Further, he dismissed talk of formation of a Government of National Unity (GNU) post coronavirus saying it is unconstitutional.
