MP Oscar Sudi dismisses claims of having an affair with slain varsity student Ivy Wangechi

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, whose name has been trending online for the wrong reasons, has finally cleared the air regarding rumours posted on social media insinuating that he had an affair with Ivy Wangechi who was hacked to death at Moi University’s School of medicine.

The speculation began after an unidentified person circulated a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation alleging that Ivy Wangechi was sleeping with men and how a number of them have contracted HIV from her. The vocal MP was mentioned as one of those who had an affair with the student and may have contracted the disease from her.

Terming the stories as “callous, cruel and barbaric,” Sudi who released a statement via Facebook on Sunday, denied the accusations saying that he had forgiven the person who crafted and peddled the false report.

"Given that today is a Palm Sunday, I choose to forgive whoever did this. It is immoral, immature and inhuman to share such malicious claims on social media even as the family is grieved by the gruesome murder of Ivy," he wrote.

"Furthermore, it is cruel, callous and barbaric to wish someone some sickness because no sane human can do so to his/her fellow being."

Ivy Wangechi hit news headlines following her gruesome murder by her estranged lover. There were unconfirmed reports online that her killer may have committed the heinous act after discovering Ivy had infected him with the virus. This narrative has however been rubbished by Ivy's father who told the Standard in an interview that his daughter was HIV negative.
