Havard university students pay a visit to Kisii university

A section of Harvard university choir students (accapella singing group) paid a visit to Kisii University on Friday morning.

This follows tireless efforts by Hellen Kerubo who lives in United States but who is a Kenyan citizen from Nyangusi in Kisii County, in liaison with Kisii university chaplain Fr. Lawrence Atambo Nyaanga.

They entertained Kisii university students and administrators including vice chancellor Prof Moses Akama and Dean of students Gladys Osoro. The event took place in the conference hall in the main campus from  10.00 am.

Speaking during the event, Kisii university Vice Chancellor Prof Akama thanked the organizers of the event for making it a dream come true.

“It is a dream come true to host students from the world’s best university, Harvard University” said Akama.

He further added that Kisii University will be the next Harvard University in Africa despite being crippled by challenges. He cited lack of resources but thanked United States for its continued support to Africa.

Harvard university students were flanked by their leader Andrew who is pursuing education. The accapella group then entertained Kisii university students displaying their rare skill. The group is touring the world and will later travel to Japan. They began their long journey in September last year.

In the same event Kisii university choir also entertained the visitors with a Kisii traditional song dubbed Chachire, a song that moved the audience to dance and the vice chancellor Prof Akama on the floor dancing.

Led by the choir leader coordinator, Mr. Obiero and trainer Mr. Omwaka and Dr. Evans Nyamwaka.

In her remarks, the dean of students Gladys Osoro could not hide her happiness as she thanked Hellen for bringing Harvard University accapella dancers to Kisii university.

“I thank Hellen for her efforts because she has made Kisii university proud” said Osoro.
