Kenya on Sunday recorded 480 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 5,668 raising the country's caseload to 240,172.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 8.5 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 2,411,172.
Out of the new patients,254 are male, whereas 226 are female, with the youngest carrier being a one-year-old baby, and the oldest aged 98.
Of the new cases, 32 are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.
Distribution
In terms of counties distribution Nairobi leads with 181, Uasin Gishu 42, Nakuru 36, Mombasa 30, Meru and Kiambu 29 cases each, Baringo 24, Kisii 17, Makueni 15, Kajiado 12, Murang’a 11, Nyeri 8, Machakos 6, Embu, Kitui and Kilifi 5 cases each, Kwale, Marsabit, Nandi, Trnas Nzoia, Garissa and Isiolo 3 cases each, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kirinyaga, Kisumu and Migori a case each.
Kenya’s Covid-19 toll reached 4,784 after eight (8) patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
Total recoveries now stand at 228,083 after 809 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours with 703 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 106 are from various health facilities in the country.
Of the total recoveries, 185,041 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 43,042 are from various hospitals countrywide.
A total of 1,829 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,994 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
One hundred and fifty-five (155) patients are in the ICU, 91 of whom are on ventilatory support and 54 on supplemental oxygen. 10 patients are on observation.
Another 762 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 696 of them in general wards and 66 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination
Kenya has at September 4, 2021, administered 2,862,528 vaccines across the country.
Of these, the total first doses are 2,050,377 while the second doses are 812,151.
The uptake of the second dose by Priority Groups is as follows: Aged 58 years and above 241,118, others 244,122, Health Workers 135,031, Teachers 123,499 while Security Officers are at 68,381.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 37.9 per cent with the majority being males at 55 per cent while females are at 45 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 2.98 per cent.
