32 people die as Kenya records 661 new Covid-19 infections

Some six hundred and sixty-one people have tested positive for the coronavirus today, from a 8,141 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.
Kenya’s positivity rate is now 8.1 per cent, with 242,945 total confirmed cases and 2,444,357 cumulative tests conducted since the onset of the disease in March last year.
The country has also lost thirty-two patients to the disease, “all being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the months of August and September,” the Health Ministry has said.

This pushes the Covid-19 death toll to 4,896.
Another five hundred and thirty-three patients have recovered from the disease, “with 416 being from the Home Based Isolation and Care program while one hundred and seventeen are from various health facilities countrywide,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement.
Total recoveries now stand at 230,940.
Further, a total of 1,723 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,725 are under the Home-based Isolation and care program.
“One hundred and seventy-four patients are in the ICU, one hundred and eighteen on ventilator support and forty on supplemental oxygen. Sixty patients in the HDU,” Kagwe added.
On vaccination, Kenya has so far administered 3,031,728 vaccines and only 3.02 per cent of the adult population is fully inoculated.
