Covid-19: 4 succumb to virus as 552 test positive
Kenya has recorded 552 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, shooting the national tally of positive cases to 93,405. The numbers come from a sample size of 7,013 bringing the total number of tests conducted to 991,448.
From the cases 529 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners.
A statement from the Ministry of Health (MOH) shows that 552 of the people who have tested positive are male while 206 are female. The youngest among them is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 93.
Fortunately, 596 patients have recovered from the disease, 484 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 112 have been discharged from various hospitals. This increases the cumulative recoveries to 74,999.
Sadly, 4 patients have succumbed to the virus bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 1,618.
There are 843 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 6,090 on Home Based Isolation and Care.
49 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 22 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 21 on supplemental oxygen. 6 are on observation.
Another 43 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 36 are in the general wards. 10 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Nairobi continues recording the highest cases in all counties breaching the 100-mark. The capital city has recorded 222, Mombasa 46, Homa Bay 33, Lamu 25, Nakuru 23, Taita Taveta 21, Kilifi 21, Nyeri 18, Kiambu 14, Turkana 13, Siaya 13, Embu 12, Kakamega 11, Murang’a 9, Laikipia 9, Machakos 8, Kitui 7, Bungoma 5, Kisumu 5, Kwale 4, Garissa 4, Vihiga 4, Kericho 3, Narok 3, Bomet 3, Meru 3, Makueni 2, Baringo 2, Kisii 2, Marsabit 2, Tana River 1, Kajiado 1, Nyamira 1, Kirinyaga 1 and Mandera 1.
This week's statistics show a steady rate of infection with the highest day being on Thursday and the lowest being on Monday when the country recorded 163 cases from a sample size of 2,283.
