With 386 delegates sent to the Climate Action conference in Egypt, Kenya was among the countries that had the highest number of representatives.

A total of 33,000 delegates attended the COP27 convention, with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) having the highest number of representatives from Africa. The DRC had 459 delegates.

One hundred and ninety (190) countries from different parts of the world sent delegates to the conference.

The United Nations Climate Change says on its website that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had the highest number of representatives at the Climate Action seminar.

The UAE sent 1,073 people to Sharm El-Sheikh, followed by Brazil (574), the DRC (459), Kenya (386) and Canada (374).

In the East African Community, Uganda sent 241 delegates and Rwanda (129).

President William Ruto led Kenya's delegation to Egypt. His office had 24 participants, including nine security officers. The other 15 were support staff at the Executive Office of the President.

Six Cabinet Secretaries attended the seminar. They are Alfred Mutua (Foreign Affairs), Soipan Tuya (Environment), Alice Wahome (Water and Irrigation), Njuguna Ndung'u (Treasury) and Mithika Linturi (Agriculture).

Kenyans on foreign assignments are usually entitled to per diem, which caters for their accommodation, food and transport.

Private participants picked by companies and NGOs for the workshops usually foot their own bills.

Samuel Mburu, the husband of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, and Edna Chelangat Lenku, the wife of Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, were among those listed as representatives of the Council of Governors.

Among those sent to Egypt by Kenya were alleged journalists, whose publication platforms don't even exist.
