OCPD arrested in possession of bhang

A sub-county police commander in Samburu County has been arrested on allegations of being in possession of bhang and endangered wildlife species.

The suspect was arrested at his home on Tuesday, September 27 at 6pm.

Also found in his house, was a G3 rifle.

Police said they had received intelligence that the sub-county police commander had loaded a part of the illegal substances in government vehicles and was transporting them to an unknown destination.

Acting on the intelligence, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives raided the sub-county police officer's home, where they found more bhang and wildlife species.

The total value of the confiscated consign`nment remains unclear.

Authorities are also looking for two police corporals alleged to be working with the sub-county police commander in the illegal trade.

Police said the 420 rolls of bhang, sandalwood and wildlife species found in the police boss's house will be used as exhibit against him in court.
