Get to know the fashion Guru, Aulgah Ojijo

1. What made you take fashion more seriously and make a career out of it?

I knew I had a calling and I wanted to do what I loved most.

2. Are you self-taught or did you study fashion design?

Self taught. Studied PR and Communication at the University of Nairobi.

3. What's it like being in the industry?

The industry is big and everyone, just like vehicle on a highway, got their lanes.

4. What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your company?

Dealing with different personalities requires a big heart. And that communication and trust is key. People take you by your word.

5. What are you fascinated with at the moment and how does it feed into your work?

A woman's body. I want to celebrate a woman's body and give beautiful options. I love effortless, easy style. Nothing too avant garde or overworked. Something that every woman can wear no matter her size.

6. What kind of woman does your clothing speak to?

I think she's a risk taker. I think she knows she's hotter than anything in this world but tries to be modest about it!

7. Do you have a specific research process when you start a new collection?

Yes. I always want to better my designs. I learn from the best, and my inspirations are from movies, music, people and nature as well as fashion trends. Then I start my sketches.

8. What's your motto?

Drop your ego and bring your soul.

9. What advice would you give to young designers?

You don't have to start your own brand to be successful. Work under a brand to perfect your skills, Then strive to be better than them.
