Neighbour denies indecently touching friend wife's breasts

A resident in Mukuru kwa Reuben amused the court when he claimed he did not indecently touch a neighbour’s wife, as he was only trying to fix the bulb when she started misbehaving.

Alex Soita, according to the charge sheet, intentionally and unlawfully attempted to force his way with the complainant on June 11 in the slum.

Soita was also accused of indecently touching the woman’s breasts without her consent and strangling her for being ‘stubborn’.

That chilly morning, the woman was taking a nap in her house at around 9am. Her husband had left for work when Soita allegedly forcefully gained entry into her house.

He woke her up and demanded that they become lovers since he alleged they were from the same clan. The woman was shocked to find that Soita was making advances on her and even caressed her bosoms against her will.

He is alleged to have attempted to force his way on her but she resisted. He then assaulted her by strangling her, causing bruises on her neck.

Neighbours who heard her screaming rushed to check on her only to find Soita taking to his heels. The woman was advised to seek medical attention before reporting to the authorities.

Soita informed the court that the woman had invited him to her house to fix a bulb, claiming that she started behaving in a suggestive manner.

“Since I was not interested, I pushed the woman aside as she was blocking the doorway and ran out,” he said.

The court granted him a bond of Sh500,000. The case will be mentioned on August 29.
