Kenya’s popular private detective freed by city court in abduction case

 Jane Wawira Mugo

A renowned private investigator has been freed following the withdrawal of three criminal cases against her.

Jane Wawira Mugo (pictured), the director of Trimo Security and Private Investigators had been accused of impersonation, abduction and creating disturbance while in the line of duty.

Her accusers were two businessmen and a lawyer. The accusations were made against her on diverse dates of 2015.

Astel Ahmedali Shah claimed Jane posed as a police officer while Geoffrey Gaitho alleged he was abducted by Trimo employees.

Lawyer Juliet Nchingu Theuri separately accused Jane and her client Nicholas Gichohi of creating a disturbance at her Westlands office in Nairobi.

Jane denied any wrongdoing, insisting her accusers were using their close ties with Nairobi CID boss Nicholas Ireri Kamwende to fight back.

The cases were struck off after the complainants changed their minds, saying they were no longer interested in the court proceedings.
