Beat the cold season by having bedroom area rugs

Your Home

Area rugs break up space and structure your room. You will have a head start if you understand the effects rugs have in the bedroom and how decorating with them works best with your furniture arrangement. Some people, however, have issues on how to pick the right area rug for their bedroom. So, here go the tips:

Where to place it: This should be your first consideration as you shop for the bedroom area rug. If you have a small bedroom, go for a large rug that covers the area under and around the bed. Those who have larger bedrooms that offer space for a sitting area and even a desk, area rugs will delineate the spaces nicely. You could, for example, put a square rug under your chair and desk. You can also place a large rug under the bed or put small ones of any shape beside the bed.

Size: Now that you have decided where to put the rug, measure the space where you want to put it to determine the size of area rug you require.

Taste and style: The colour and style in your bedroom will determine the rug you go for. If you have too many solid colours, for example, get a patterned rug. On the contrary, if your bedroom has a lot of busy patterns, go for a solid colour rug or one with very simple patterns. For those redecorating an entire bedroom, a new area rug should inspire the design. Work from the ground up as you choose wall colour, duvet covers and any other accessory for your room.

Mood: Your preferred style will determine what you go for. If you love traditional décor, a solid-colour rug or a classic-patterned one will enhance the look of your room. Oriental rugs will fit into many bedroom styles. For those who are bold, large, bright patterns offer the energy they love while stripes, checks and polka dots will work for those who love an upbeat mood.

Your budget: How much do you want to spend? The amount you spend will determine the quality of rug you get. The cheapest area rugs are made of synthetic materials, while the most expensive ones are handmade. For those working within a budget, there are many beautiful rugs available in supermarkets and other stores.
