The boys that courted chicks from Kaaga Girls rode in a Leyland school bus christened Muangua (Meru oak) —and later ‘Sexy’ with songs from Anthony B (Real warrior) and Ginjah (Black sugar) blasting from Roadstar speakers.
Then there was the school principal who bashed “confused spirits”calling them “mkojo wa mende”.
Notable alumni guided by the motto ‘Veritas et fortitude’ (Truth and Courage) include’ former KQ CEO Titus Naikuni and former head of the Civil Service Ambassador Francis Muthaura, former Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere and former Agriculture PS Romano Kiome.
Other notable Nkubirians are Chuka University VC Prof Erastus Njoka and Nairobi lawyer Mugambi Imanyara who initially ‘owned’ ODM Party.
Buuri MP Kinoti Gatobu and businessman Eric Kinoti slept in warm blankets over thin mattresses at Embakasi and Kinangop dorms.
Others who wore blue shirts, grey trousers and navy blue pullovers include Vivo Energy MD Polycarp Igathe and former Kenya Railway Golf Club chair Nthiomi Majau and former long-distance runner, Stephen ‘Baba’ Kiogora.
