Sex workers from Mlolongo and Mtito Andei may soon drop their trade to work in front office management, security and customer care desks.
This is after they graduated from Athi River Secondary School after a three-week training in front office management, security and customer care services.
The women are aged between 23 and 28 years.
World Provision Centre (WPC), County Security Services and Security Group Africa who sponsored the training are targeting sex workers along the transport corridors.
WPC says its is easy to reach the women in organised groups.
Speaking to The Nairobian, WPC Director, Simon Ngiki said, ‘’When commercial sex workers are trained, they regain their self-esteem and in turn manage the spread HIV.”
Ngiki added that most sex workers are willing to give up their trade if they are offered alternative way of earning a living.
Beatrice Musyoka, 26, a mother of four and a former twilight girl, said their ‘job’ is not easy. She claimed many sex workers are willing to reform if they get something better to do.
