Christmas holiday involves lots of parties and family get-togethers with plenty of food and drinks. Sadly, it is the season where weight is gained by most. In order to avoid unnecessary weight gain, being prepared is important.
Be full: Avoid going for parties when hungry. Instead, opt to have healthy food before to avoid the temptation of over indulging in unhealthy foods rich in fats and sugar.
Choice of foods: Opt for healthy foods when choosing foods at the table. This will ensure there is no weight gain from unhealthy food intake. Sweets, fatty foods and sodas should be taken in small quantity.
Exercise: Holiday season should not be an excuse not to exercise. Continue with the daily exercise inasmuch as parties are taking a huge chunk of the week. Will to exercise and this will be much easier.
Alcohol: It is better to avoid over indulging in alcohol. Maintain the normal limit even when free drinks are flowing. Excessive consumption of beer and ‘nyama choma’ may lead to a pot belly.
Use a small plate: Using a small plate when serving ensures a small amount is served. This will help to also avoid food wastage associated by not finishing food.
Enjoy the holiday season and a healthier 2015!
