Orie Rogo Manduli is seen in the background at her daughter's wedding
The queen of Gele (head wraps) Orie Rogo Manduli, oozed ego and command, and at some point caused confusion during her daughter’s Sh10 million wedding attended by the who-is-who in the political and social strata.
The Saturday wedding between her engineer daughter Elizabeth Rogo, and her Ghanian lover Nana Agyeman, had the All Saints Cathedral church ceremony delayed until 3pm with the outspoken politician and activist making the best of the show.
After arriving at the luxurious Hemingsway hotel at 2pm, where the brides maids’ team had assembled, Manduli rejected the Pajero car that had been reserved for her and instead demanded to sit in the Limo that had been set aside for the bride and her maid of honour.
The organisers had to make quick adjustments to avoid embarrassment with cameramen getting the best of it.
When the convoy got to All Saints Cathedral, Manduli was the first to alight from the Limo. She again stole the show as ululations and cheers greeted her to her jubilation. A security guard manned her back-to-back as song and dance commanded the moment.
It was a glitz affair. The bridal team conspicuously comprised of whites. The bride donned a grey bridal gown with brass metallic decorations around the long tail.
The groom’s team, lead by the main man Nana Agyeman, comprised of Jaja Huggins, Niku Singh, Mandeep Renu, James Segoh, Sergey Below, Ronald Rogo and Edwin Ogara.
As The Most Reverend Dr Eliud Wabukala presided over the ceremony, an emotional Manduli shed tears as the two were announced man and wife.
And her excitement was clear during the party as she got her shoes off to dance before making a 45 minutes speech laced with humour and motherly wisdom.
