Top schools in Rift Valley registered impressive results and produced at least 10 students among the top 100 nationally.

Kabarak High School led all private schools nationally followed by Molo Academy, also in Nakuru County. Other schools from the region were Bahati Girls at position five and Sacho in Baringo County.

In last year’s KCSE, Wandui Albert Kamau of Moi High School Kabarak emerged top. Besides doing well in the private category, schools in the region were also ranked among the top 100 nationally.

Those ranked in this category included Nakuru Boys and Girls, Moi Tea Secondary in Kericho County and Naivasha Girls. Others included Mary Mount, Litein, Tenwek, Tengecha, Baringo High School, Kabianga and Kipsigis Girls.

Kabarak’s Likoko Abel Nigel and Rwengo Adrian Kennedy took positions 14 and 22 nationally to emerge the best students in the province.

A celebratory mood engulfed the school, associated with former President Moi, following the announcement that it had emerged the best nationally. Students held a procession in school to celebrate the outstanding performance.

The school’s principal, Henry Kiplagat, said the performance was the best in 26 years, adding that it maintained the first position in private schools nationally but improved from position six overall in 2011 by moving two steps forward.

The third best in the province was Molo Academy’s Nyaosi Job Barongo. Also in the top ranks was Odhiambo Martin Okongo of Moi High School Kabarak and Edwin Ingaji who took position 56 nationally.

The best ever

Naivasha Girls’ Pythia Kairo Nyakseru emerged the best girl at 34 nationally followed by Effie Kamadi Nailah and Nakuru Girls’ Chemutai Barbara.

In Bomet County, Tenwek High School posted a mean score of 8.9 and took the top position. The school’s Principal, Richard Cheruiyot, heaped praise on students and the teaching staff.

An elated Mr Cheruiyot said the performance was the best in the school’s history as all the 156 candidates presented performed well with Leonard Ng’etich emerging the best with A plain.
