Obama’s job solution lies a flight away

“In the beginning there was the earthquake, followed by the hurricane, now the endless rain and the floods... what is going on here? Are these the signs of the times or what?”

The moral right to be recognised as the author of the above words is asserted by a friend, Atieno Johnson, who was writing on her Facebook page from Washington.

Washington is another country from where I am; as they lament flooding, we have bush fires decimating vast dry lands, killing two people so far.

So if you add fire to the catastrophes listed above, ranging from earthquakes to hurricanes and flooding, then you are faced with apocalyptic tragedies.This week, our cousin Barry has been asked to tell Americans how he is going to create jobs and get them fast.

If only that young man listens, I would ask him to come to Nairobi on the next available flight (not on his official craft, Air Force One, complete with armoured vehicles and the lot), but as a tourist. Within a day or two, he can visit all those Kazi kwa Vijana projects, take pictures and videos then hop onto a plane before anybody notices his absence. If we can do it, yes, Americans, too, can!
