Skinny jeans

Living

Skinny jeans are a fashion must-have. Anyone can wear them as long as it is worn right.

Tips to help you look your best:

• Dark-coloured skinnies have the most slimming effect. Go for black or dark denim.

• Skinny jeans don’t have to be so tight. Get jeans that have a bit of stretch in them so you won’t feel so constricted. Skinnies can look just as good in a style that scrunches up a bit around your ankles and is of a slightly looser fit.

• Balance off the effect of skinnies by wearing a loose and flowing top over them. Because skinny jeans are so tight, balance them with a fuller top. Tunics, short dresses or drapey tops are good. Flatter your figure a bit more by belting the top at your natural waist.

• Tight tops paired with skinny jeans are unflattering unless they are hip length or longer. T-shirts that hit the belt line can work especially if paired with a vest or blazer. If you do that, wear a skinny belt through the loops of your skinny jeans.

• Wearing heels or wedges with your skinnies can make you look even taller. Ballet flats, though very common, look best on taller people or those with longer legs. If you don’t want to wear heels, wear a flat riding boot. This is a good combination especially if you want to draw attention away from problem areas like heavy curves or thighs.
