Kenya is considering pulling out from international agreements on pirates that have strained the country’s judiciary and penal institutions owing to the high number of pirate’s arrested at sea and failure by neighboring countries to accept and prosecute suspected pirates. Speaking at a joint press conference with the attorney general, foreign affairs minister Moses Wetangula said the country could not bear the burden of trying all piracy suspects without the support of neighboring countries which he claims are giving the matter a wide berth. Kenya has subsequently given a six-month notice to partner countries over its intentions to review its commitment to the treaty.
